To my friends Ramy, Morris, Mimi, my teacher Said Ragab and Egyptians everywhere, congratulations on this momentous day in Egyptian history!
In these first few hours after the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak and the transition of the Egyptian government to the military council, I would like to congratulate the pro-democracy protesters for their success to date of ousting their dictator of 30 years. For the most part, the campaign has been relatively non-violent on their part and has accomplished much of what they have set out to do initiate the reforms to bring freedom to this nation of 84 million people. This is a good beginning. Tonight is for celebration. Tomorrow it will be the time to roll up their sleeves and get to work at implementing the visions they have had, to make them real in the streets and in the marketplace.
It is my sincere prayer that G-d watch over all of Egypt and covers her with His mighty right hand. Protect her, guide her, go before her and pave the way for her to become the nation You have created her to be. Right the wrongs and establish justice. Give her and her leaders Your knowledge, Your wisdom and Your discernment in all that she does. Give them Your strength, Your patience and Your boldness as they go forward. Give them Your love and Your compassion. Give them Your peace and Your rest. Bring them to a saving faith in You. And give them a heart for Israel. B’Shem Yeshua HaMashiach, Amen!
